About

What is The Traveling Sole? The Traveling Sole is dedicated to your health and wellbeing using Barefoot Massage techniques. What is Barefoot Massage? Well, it’s like a traditional hands on massage with some minor differences. Instead of using the hands to perform the massage, the therapist uses their feet, which are excellent tools. The broadness of the foot in addition to the therapist utilizing their bodyweight with gravity, is able to deliver a deeper more relaxing massage.

Meet Tyana

about
About

She has taken many classes to enhance and broaden her career in barefoot massage. Her understanding that every person has unique challenges and preferences and prides herself in being able to hone into the needs of each individual. She has learned Ashiatsu, performing 1 and/or 2 footed moves and is able to give deep consistent pressure to most every body using her feet to deliver the massage.
In addition to an Ashiatsu massage or a session all of it’s own ROM (range of motion) gives long fascial stretches. It’s like doing yoga, only she is doing the work for you.
Another style of barefoot training includes Sarga Bodywork. Sarga Bodywork is most similar to Ashiatsu, however there is no overhead bar support, instead Tyana uses a strap that is attached under the massage table for balance. Direct downward pressure is not used, rather a more transverse oblique angle is used to stimulate a stretch response in the tissue. Sarga Bodywork is myofascial in its approach. The broad surface of the foot efficiently allows the practitioner to apply pressure with depth, strength and accuracy. There is intention in every stoke.
So whether you want to relax, ease your pain, improve your athletic performance, or recover faster, she will work with you to achieve your goals.  It took her a lot of time, hard work and dedication to get where she is today. Always striving to gain knowledge and different effective ways to work with her feet. She will guide you through an Ashiatsu or Sarga massage to promote a very deep, relaxing massage.

Client Reviews

“I just experienced my very first Ashiatsu barefoot massage. What an amazing feeling. I’m so relaxed right now. I try to get a massage as often as possible due to the stresses put on my body from repetitive movements at work & extended sitting at a computer & not keeping the best posture, as well as the strain of weighty equipment I wear when fighting fire from time to time. I love classic massage therapy and it always helps me immensely. This barefoot massage worked more deeply into my muscles & eased my aches right out. Located in Michele’s Salon & Spa in Truth or Consequences, The Traveling Sole Barefoot Massage is more than a massage session, it’s an experience unrivaled by any I’ve had before. Tyana Shiles is the licensed massage therapist who performed magic on my achy body. She’s extremely talented & well educated in her field having studied for several years to perfect her skills. I highly recommend anyone who enjoys massage to try this. You won’t be disappointed.” – Brad S.

“I have been so happy coming to Screaming Octopus (office) the last few years. I’ve seen Tyana for Ashiatsu and now Sarga! I cannot recommend this practice enough. Tyana does a fantastic job with Sarga, if it’s new to you I highly recommend trying it out. The slow, even pressure creates a whole new sensation in releasing muscle tension. Such a wonderful experience, 90 minutes or more at least! Tyana deserves 5 stars every time, I’ve never had a bad experience here!” -Lerin M.M

“The Ashiatsu was awesome. Something very different, but good. She did very well with her feet, definitely a unique experience apart from “regular” massage. Almost like a long, smooth rolling pin that she’s got great control over. To use one’s feet like that I can imagine it takes much practice and skill, which she displayed very well.  Overall, a great massage and look forward to experiencing it again. I think once people get a chance to see what Tyana has to offer she will be generating a good client following. A good choice for diversification in your practice.” -Gene R.

“Had my first Ashiatsu massage today from Tyana and it was amazing totally recommend and totally going back”-Reese S.

“Tyana Pillow , you’re amazing. If you have not got your massage done by her you’re missing out.”    -J.P.
