Block Therapy

What is Block Therapy?

Block Therapy is a deep fascia release technique that combines postural realignment, meditation, and isometric strengthening. Essentially, it helps you feel better, get stronger, and reduce stress.

In Block Therapy, we use therapeutic tools called the Block Buddy and Block Baby, made from bamboo or wood, which have a similar density to bone. The goal is to target and melt deep adhesions that grip all the way to the bone.

This powerful self-care practice helps to release restrictions and adhesions in the body that block blood and oxygen flow, which can lead to pain, aging, disease, and limited mobility. Factors like unconscious breathing, poor posture, everyday stress, and injuries all contribute to fascia—your connective tissue—adhering to bone with significant force, locking the body into negative alignment.

By combining diaphragmatic breathing with your body weight and gravity on the block, you gently melt these restrictions, improving blood flow and oxygen delivery to your cells.

How does it work?

You lie on the Block Buddy in various positions for at least three minutes per spot. With each breath, you target restricted areas, using your body weight and gravity to create a warming effect that dissolves adhesions in the fascia, restoring proper circulation and movement.

This becomes a mindful, meditative practice, allowing you to relax and release tension. The technique also activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which promotes deep relaxation, lowers your heart rate and blood pressure, and conserves energy—essentially giving your cells a "hug."

Block Therapy has transformed my posture, reduced soreness, relieved chronic inflammation, and much more.

A personal experience of mine:

When I was a child, I had hernia surgery, leaving scars just above my pubic bone. Growing up, I often dealt with frequent urination, back pain when lying flat, and severe sciatic pain that traveled down my leg. My feet were always cold, and I had numbness in my heel.

After practicing Block Therapy, I realized that my body had grown and adapted around the deep scars, creating misalignment. Through blocking, I could lay flat without pain, and my sciatic pain and numbness disappeared. Even my feet warmed up! I also noticed fewer issues with urination, as the deep adhesions near my bladder had been restricting its ability to fully expand. Additionally, my menstrual cycle became less intense and shorter in duration.

This is just one example, but it has helped me in so many ways.

Testimonials:

“I enjoy using that Block at home on my own time, maintaining what the massage therapy has done for me. I no longer have any back pain. I just find it amazing that with the Block you can find pain where you didn’t even realize you had it and break down that fascia. I found it really great and I highly recommend it to anybody.”  ~ Joan J.

“I started doing Block Therapy because I had a lot of pain in my left leg, down my IT Band and some back issues, and my upper chest area. I found relief within 3 sessions actually and I’ve been blocking ever since. It’s been working and it’s actually improved my Golf game – so that is a positive too.”  ~ Giselle S.
